Pretty in Pink...and red and lavender...
Madalyn went to bed last night wearing a red Elmo shirt and lavender leggings, with pink Ralph Lauren socks pulled up over them and reaching to her knees. It might have appeared (to the bugs on the wall) that we'd been time-warped back to the 80's, and I was dressing her in clashing pastels and leg warmers; but the real situation was a mother-load of laundry that awaited washing...(okay, okay, so the pulling socks to her knees was for me)--but I couldn't help but notice while dressing her in this eclectic ensemble, when she pointed at her lamp and chattered away about it, that her apparent new word for "lights" was highly appropriate for the scene--
I mean there I was, staring at her rainbow-of-an-outfit, and her wet, matted bath hair, picturing her as an 80s chick sweating fresh from her jazz class, and then she speaks--and what does she say?
The one word that articulates my every thought, as if she was in total agreement; "tights."
And if she could've hit the unrealistic max of 11 new words and her first sentence all in one night, I am convinced she would've also added, "and terrycloth sweatbands for my forehead and wrists, too, please!"
