7 Reasons We Will Keep Camping

1.  FAMILY BONDING

2.  EXPLORING!!

(so glad he taught her that)

This river is beautiful!  There are rapids and it's much steeper and larger than my wide angle lens could capture... really, really beautiful and like stepping into old Florida, long ago.

They were really high above the water in these but you can't tell!  Argh.  Should've used a diff setting, I'm rusty.

One of the campfire stories we made up was about "Winks" that were wood fairies who fought against their enemies, the "Minks"... and we decided this tree hole on an island (dumb lens couldn't capture it all) was one of their homes. ;)

Even the facilities had a really neat, dated feel... very quaint and clean.  Don't think I'd want to come brave the mosquitoes in the summer, though.

Second of two snakes Madalyn found... think this one was the smaller but poisonous one... first was a HUGE Rat Snake.

My three ambitious treasure hunters... geocaching while daddy made burgers...

3.  Geocaching!!!

Finding our first Geocache treasure!

An ammo box with trinkets... one being a VBS bandara just like ours!

Three middle children wild cards finding the second treasure... another ammo box well-hidden with a Semi truck in it that Sam loved.

Jack carefully burying it at a tree trunk for the next explorers.

4.  Campfires!!

5.  THIS DESSERT!!

Strawberries, white chocolate, semi-sweet choc and marshmallows, wrapped in foil, heated on grill over dwindling fire... HEAVENLY.

And makes a great goatee

6.  Free, imagination-inspiring entertainment

7.  Daddy's Bedtime Stories

Magical stories that turn this ^^^....

into THIS^^!!

So far we've enjoyed the Stick Dog series and Hatchett.  Narnia series and many others are on our list.

S'mores still on the cheeks.  Camping's very dirty like that.  Even with a big bag of baby wipes which was the best thing we brought with us.
